LETICIA BARRETO (SP, Sorocaba, 1974)
Fine artist, with the scholarship from The Rotary Foundation International I studied Fine Arts at the The Institute of Art Lorenzo de Medici in Florence, ITALY. There I had the opportunity to study drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, installation and art history.
While in Italy I was invited to an artist’s residence program “Summer Workshop” (La Cipressaia, Montagnana, Itália) (drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and art theory) to study at the studio of Rose Shakinovsky and Claire Gavronsky, professors of the Lorenzo de Medici Institute of arts, Florence.
In 1992 I opened my own studio, the “Estúdio de Arte HQ” where I teach drawing and painting. Since then I´ve participated in own woman shows and group shows here in my city and in another cities in São Paulo. In São Paulo I participated of collective shows at Mali Villas Boas Gallery and at the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo (MASP – Centro – Galeria Prestes Maia).
In 2000 I began my international carrier: in NY Group show– “EmergeNcY”, Mixed-media, “Crane Street Studios”, Long Island City.
In Florence, at Galleria Via Larga; in Quito, Equador, " Latin Spirit for the New Millenium, group exhibition at Britsh Council Gallery, at Swisshotel of Quito, Posada de Artes Kingman, Villa Madri (Casa de Navarro); Special Guest from the Tourism Ministery of Equador - 1° Casa Abierta de las instituiciones de lo Estado", Cultural Center of Quito.
Since 2004 I´ve studied printmaking at Lasar Segall Museum in São Paulo.
